Heavy-duty pallet racks, also referred to as beam-style pallet racks, are the most prevalent warehousing racking systems in domestic logistics facilities. What technical details should be optimized to design and customize heavy-duty racks that perfectly match on-site warehouse conditions? Better Racks offers professional and detailed insights.
The first core step is cargo unitization. All goods are palletized based on packaging specifications, weight parameters and storage attributes. It is essential to confirm pallet types, standard dimensions, single-pallet load capacity and safe stacking height. In general, the maximum load of goods per pallet is limited to 2000 kg. These core parameters determine the span, depth and beam spacing of individual rack units. The overall rack height is finalized according to the warehouse clear height and the maximum lifting height of on-site forklift equipment.
In accordance with standard industrial design specifications, the span of a single rack unit is within 4 meters, and the depth is controlled within 1.5 meters. For low and medium-bay warehouses, the maximum rack height is typically below 12 meters, whereas high-bay automated warehouses can achieve a height of up to 30 meters. Such ultra-high warehouses are fully automated, and the complete rack structure is assembled with segmented columns, with each column section restricted to 12 meters in height to ensure structural stability.
Low and medium-bay warehouses primarily utilize electric reach trucks, electric counterbalance forklifts and three-way forklifts for cargo storage and retrieval operations. Electric stackers are suitable for operation in areas with low-height racks. For high-bay automated warehouses, specialized stacker cranes are deployed to complete all inbound and outbound cargo handling tasks.
Boasting high space utilization efficiency and flexible cargo access, the beam pallet rack system fully complies with modern logistics operation standards when integrated with computerized intelligent management and control systems. Better Racks provides customized rack solutions for various industrial application scenarios, delivering consistent product quality and dependable after-sales service for every project.
